The Songhai of West Africa have lived for hundreds of years outside the love and provision of God. More than 50% of our people are 15 years of age or younger. Few have had the chance to hear, understand and respond to His love. Come and be a part of sowing seeds among the Songhai. Enter the ancient, fabled city of Timbuktu with the Words of Life. Be a part of a soccer team who will teach young people to improve their soccer skills. At the same time, share your love and relationship with Jesus Christ. You will be blessed as you bring the Good News of Jesus to the Songhai who have never heard. Take every opportunity to pray for those you will be involved with on a daily basis. Share your faith by word and by your actions. Allow the youth of this desert city to see how Christ has blessed your life. Use your God-given skills to share His love with those who have not heard. |

You will be a vital link between American volunteers and the Bambara people they are serving. You will come to live in Bamako, Mali, and you will fill your days (and sometimes your nights) coordinating volunteer activities. This is a vital role, facilitating between 25 to 50 teams of volunteers, arranging for their housing, transportation, interpreter usage, running volunteer errands, and making airport runs. This job will demand a great deal of flexibility and organizational skills. The need is great. The Bambara team does not have enough people resources to meet the volunteer logistical needs and still continue ministry among the Bambara people. That is where you come in. Volunteers are already doing a lot on their own, but to help them facilitate their ministry, you will arrange local transport, coordinate schedules with interpreters, pick them up at the airport, etc. Your ministry will be dynamic as you work to tailor the on-the-field logistics to the specific needs of the team that is coming. You will have the privilege of seeing volunteers enter the field with trepidation, but returning with joy as they have shared their faith, and people have responded. You will learn of their trials, joys, and victories as you host them in your home. You will build a network of friends across large parts of the US. You will also have time to engage interpreters and others you relate to with the gospel. Has God uniquely gifted you to serve in this capacity? |

While it is a 128 bed hospital, our occupancy rate is generally greater than 100%. Annually 60,000 to 70,000 people receive treatment through our clinics and 7,000 to 8,000 are admitted. These people represent over 20 different people groups, from Ghana and 4 other countries. Many of these people groups are unreached with the Gospel. Currently we have only 1 surgeon on staff. By coming you will allow Dr. Faile time off from being on call every day or even vacation time. As a surgeon, you will assist with outpatient (OP) clinics 3 days/week, & share night call with our other physicians. Two days /week are for scheduled surgeries. While on call, you may have surgical or pediatric emergencies, obstetrical complications, traumas, as well as general medical cases. Take this opportunity to gain practical and concentrated experience among an unreached people group reaching back to the 12th century. Through face-to-face interaction with the Maninka, you will gain fresh insight into God's heart for those who have not yet heard the gospel and learn about the type of commitment needed for Christians and the local church to become involved in reaching the unreached. You and those who follow will develop a greater vision of how your church can be involved in reaching the remaining unreached peoples of the world. Whether your church is just developing a vision for the unreached or is ready for strategic involvement, this experience can help you move your congregation toward God's purposes. |

You will visit from one compound to another getting to know the people and learning of their way of life. You will ask to pray for them and when they agree you will pray for them in Jesus' name. Your prayers, in addition to the obvious of calling upon God to intervene, will also demonstrate to muslims that indeed Christians do pray and will help erode myths that they believe about us. It will also reveal the love of Christ to them and be a positive witness. It will in some instances open immediate doors to bear witness of Jesus. You will also assist us in distributing scripture or testimony cassettes to be a lasting witness among the people. In many areas where muslims are turning to Christ, one of the primary tools helping them is cassettes which teach the gospel. You will work in rural areas, and therefore live in a "camping" situation some nights. You will sleep outside, using mosquito nets. You will take bucket baths. As you live among the Fulani, you will seek opportunities to get to know them and and learn about their way of life. You will learn greetings in their language. These small things will show that you value them and will open doors for ministry among them. |
