Empowering West African Baptists

An IMB missionary lectures at a seminaryBaptist work in West Africa has been going on for more than 150 years, and well-established Baptist conventions exist in several countries. Many West African churches and pastors are faithfully striving to reach West Africa with the Gospel of Christ but they face formidable challenges.

The Convention Team

A group of missionaries called the Convention Team works alongside Baptist conventions and unions in six West African countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Togo and Benin.

These missionaries train West African Baptists in the use of effective church planting strategies and challenge them to reach all of their unreached peoples for Christ.
